You Music It's a lovely morning and the sun is just about to rise over the hills. Everything looks beautiful and the smell of all the plants and flowers hangs in the air. King Gustav decides that it is too beautiful outside to stay in bed. Oh, today I stand up in front of all my subjects and step into my beautiful castle garden. He pulls the door and knocks on the big castle door wide open. It would be lovely to take a nap in the early morning. As the doors open, he shrieks loudly. He gives a loud yell. The beautiful morning is over. Because in front of the door is David the Dragon. King Gustav is a very brave and good king. Everyone in his kingdom is happy and satisfied. But there is one thing that makes the life of King Gustav and his subjects very difficult. David the Dragon. David the Dragon is the terror of the land. He storms the king's lands constantly and kicks everything flat in front of him. Party nights he blows fire and then the stables, the barns and the farmhouses are on fire. No one is safe and no one knows when David the Dragon is going to do something terrible. Now, put the dragon, your true friend, here on the castle stairs. On this beautiful sunny morning. King Gustav hurries to the big clock against the wall to ring it. But before he can touch it, David sits down on his knees and makes a loud creaking sound. King Gustav turns around and is surprised. He has never heard David make such a noise. Then King Gustav sees the father dragon. He sits half-asleep behind the big David and his whole body shaking. King Gustav is completely knocked out of the field. Oh, why will David make such a sad sound? He takes his hand off the big clock and goes to stand in front of his old enemy. David says. Mercy, mercy, good King Gustav. I offer you my services if you just save my father's life. King Gustav can't believe his eyes. Is this really the bad dragon that throws mercy at him? Maybe it's just a joke. Maybe the dragon is planning to set the castle on fire as soon as the king turns his back. King Gustav doesn't know what to think of this situation. The father dragon crawls up in front of him. Climbs on the king's coat pin, curls up on the warm blanket and falls asleep. King Gustav's heart softens when he looks at the sleeping dragon. He looks up at David. What's going on here? Explain. His mother died two days ago. David says. I don't know how to make him a good father. If you take care of my son here in the castle, I promise to be a good dragon from now on. King Gustav is a very kind man. He knows he can't say no. He says. Okay, that won't be easy. But we'll look at the father. Then you also get a chance to keep your promise. From then on, the king leads the dragon all around the castle on a leash. David is very obedient. When the king says. Sit. Go sit, David. When he says. Wait. The dragon sits still for hours. Later, the king takes off the leash. And David listens when he says. Go get it. Let go. And ask nicely. The icy monster walks like a mad dog after King Gustav. Every night he sleeps in one of the barns, on a nice soft bed that the queen had made for him. The guards in the royal bedroom call the baby dragon Dirkie. He is very sweet and the guards teach him very good manners. After a while, everyone is used to the two dragons in the castle. Dirkie grows up quickly. One day, King Gustav decides that David's son must visit every night before bedtime. The queen will read a bedtime story to the two dragons while they sit in front of the big fireplace. After that, Dirkie is taken to bed and David goes back to the barn to sleep. After a nap, King Gustav begins to notice how David looks every night with longing and sad eyes at the flickering flames of the fire. He knows why David looks so unhappy. It is because the dragon is proud to be able to blow fire. From the fact that David stayed in the castle, he kept his promises and changed his peaceful habits and never blows fire again, the queen thinks. The dragon still has the right to be angry and David learned his lesson well. He deserves a reward. One night, the queen tells David to stay behind the fire after they listened to the bedtime story. I have a very important position for you here in the castle, David. You are now a very responsible dragon and I am proud of you. I appoint you as guardian of the royal treasury. David can't believe his eyes. Christmas has to be bright, flickering flames. Flames for which he is so sweet. What do you want me to do? Queen Gustav explains. Every night at this time, all the candles in the castle must be lit. Every sweet candle. From the biggest candle in the throne room to the smallest candle on the basement stairs. When there is a party in the big hall, we will need even more candles. That is a very big and responsible position, David. And just the work for you. You can light every candle with a ray of fire. Can you appreciate that? I will be very happy if you can do that for me. David was very happy. He even gets a snarky look on his face which is supposed to be a smile. He can be a real dragon again and if Dirky is big, he can help his dad. Together they will forever be the guardians of the royal treasury. He jumps in the air and shouts Ho ho, I am the happiest dragon in the whole world. Sit, says the queen with a smile. And soon the big monster will sit next to him. Yes, you are a happy dragon. And I have to say, a kind one as well. You behave very well, David. The queen shakes David's wrinkled head. David, the dragon, carefully lowers his head on the queen's feet and gets a beautiful peak of pride. Copyright © 2020 Mooji Media Ltd. All Rights Reserved.
