Tequila is a song about a girl named Tequila. In my mind, she is on the label of the bottle.
You can see her picture while you're sitting at the bar on the label. And there's a lot of
interesting confusion, just like what happens when you drink tequila, where you can break from
reality if you drink enough of it. And one of the fun little moments is the singer, suddenly,
you can't tell if he's singing about the label, the girl on the label, or if that woman is actually
real. I love the weird kind of, it's like you've walked through some strange
membrane in reality, and you're not quite sure, but he is. And so, you trust him on wherever he's
going. But there has been a very popular and very dominating song in country music called Tequila.
And of course, I thought, man, I need to rename this.
song Girl Called Tequila or something to give away the premise. And I didn't, and just sort of
left it as a picture of me smiling with my finger pointing at a tequila bottle that has a label on
it that has a hot, beautiful, dreamy person, and just let you live with it for a long time until
you start to deconstruct what's being said. It's my gift to the listener.
