One beautiful Sunday morning, the crowd had covered the floor.
Oh, they were packed and jammed like sardines from the pulpit to the door.
Parson Jones stood behind his rostrum with his glasses down on his nose and he thought,
Now is my chance to get all these hypocrites told.
So he based his sermon on catching fish with a dragnet scoop and bait.
Old Rev made his own comparison and he gave it to them plain and straight, and I quote,
Now some of you folk, why you just like that jumping trout that runs all the little fish
to cover.
Why you ain't never satisfied in no one church.
But you go hopping from one to the other, just like some of us folks do nowadays.
You ain't satisfied with one thing, you have to have another.
Now some of you, why you just like that sucker fish.
Now he feeds way down on the shore.
Now it's mighty easy to catch him, yes it is, very easy to catch him.
And he's pretty easy to spoil too.
Now you sisters.
I'm talking to you sisters.
You on the mother board and the stewardess board and the usher board and works like that.
Now you haven't been doing right here lately, so I'll have to speak to you.
Now most of you sisters, why you just like that catfish.
Now it takes you an overflow to bring him on top.
After all of the weddings and the funerals and all the big meetings are over, your action
in the church has done stop.
Now you deacons.
Now you deacons.
Now you deacons.
Now you always come out, we should do this, we should do that.
Why shouldn't you do something sometime?
Just sit up and just blah blah all the time.
Always finding fault of everything.
Now you deacons, why you just like that one-eyed flounder fish.
That one-eyed looking just one way.
You can see everybody else's faults, including your pastor's and your shine brightest day.
Now you know that's not right.
Now most of you, why you just like that sucker fish.
Why you just like that jackfish.
I'm talking to you over there in the amen corner.
Yes, I'm talking to you.
You're always finding fault of everything.
The choir ain't this and the steward boy ain't that.
You just like that big mouth jackfish and they are pulling it their full way down south.
It's just like all of you church members, it ain't a God's thing to you but mouth.
Now Sister Freeman.
Sister Freeman.

Sister Freeman.
Now don't you be mad at me.
You come to church next Sunday and bring me a chicken.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's alright, Reverend.
That's alright.
Sure enough.
